800,000 units of Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 sold in mere 12 hours

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 2 in China last week and the tablet went on sale yesterday and the company has managed to sell 800,000 handsets in mere 12 hours. The announcement wad made on Weibo and also stated that the device will go on sale once again on 24 August.

The company is expected to launch the device in India as well. Xiaomi will hold an event in New Delhi on 19 August where it is expected to release the MIUI 7 too.

The all-new Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display. It is powered by MediaTek’s latest MT6795 Helio X10 SoC, octa-core Cortex A53 clocked at 2.2GHz, coupled with 2GB of RAM.

On the camera front, expect a 13-megapixel rear snapper and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device runs the company’s newest MIUI 7 that is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The device is now lighter than its predecessor at 160 grams and measures 152mm x 76mm x 8.25mm. It is fuelled by a 3,020 mAh battery.

The dual-SIM handset supports 4G and comes with 16GB storage onboard. Besides, the company also has 32GB variant that is named Redmi Note 2 Prime.

The 16GB version will be made available in two variants – 4G on both SIMs and 4G-3G combination – priced at 899 Yuan (approx. Rs 9,200) and 799 Yuan (approx. Rs 8,200) respectively. The 32GB variant is priced at 999 Yuan (approx Rs 10,200).
