October 13 is finally here. And today, Flipkart and Amazon fight for your attention. The latest deal to catch popular interest is the Moto G that could be pre-ordered at Rs 8999. The 4G LTE model is available on Flipkart for preorder starting October 15 at the on going Big Billion Day sale on Flipkart.
To preorder the device you need to use the Flipkart app since the sale is available app only.
The Moto G (2nd gen) was launched in India in September 2014. However, in the run up to the launch of the Moto G (3rd gen) a couple of months ago, the price of the Moto G (2nd gen) dropped from Rs 12999 to Rs 9999. However, there’s an additional Rs 1000 off on the Big Billion Day sale at Flipkart.
The 5-inch display is protected by Gorilla Glass to shield it from scratches. Like the first gen Moto G, the second gen has a water-resistant coat to prevent water droplets entering inside the LCD. However, it’s not fully water-proof, so it can’t be submerged in water. You have the option to swap the back panel with colourful shells, although the battery is still non-removable. The addition of a microSD card slot in the second gen Moto G, enables you to boost storage up to 32GB.
In contrast, with the 3rd gen Moto G, Motorola has made minor changes to the design in the front and a significant one behind. On the front, the thing that is different is that in the place of metallic grille which stood out on the earpiece speaker and base, you now have two depressions.
While they may look good, the limited space easily attracts dust that is difficult to remove. The bezel on the top and bottom certainly looks thicker for a 5-inch phone. The Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection is a definite plus point, helping to keep the scratch and smudge marks away.
