The FIFA general secretary could be making his second trip in three years to the Indian subcontinent...
FIFA have helped the All India Football Federation (AIFF) devise a strategic plan for the next four years which is expected to be launched in November this year with Jerome Valcke, the general secretary of the world governing body for football expected to unveil it.
It was back in February that Dr.Shaji Prabhakaran, FIFA’s development officer for south and central Asia announced of FIFA aiding the AIFF in coming up with a comprehensive plan at the Goal 2014 Indian Football Convention.
“It’s a 4-year strategic plan of what we want to do in terms of youth development, academy, I-League, national team, women’s team and everything. It’s a comprehensive plan for the next 4 years. FIFA supported us very strongly in making this plan.
“Their performance team made 4 or 5 trips to India to discuss and review it. We are ready with the plan now. We will place it to the Executive Committee soon,” informed AIFF general secretary Kushal Das to Goal.
“We plan to launch it in November because we are hoping that a strong delegation from FIFA would come, probably the general secretary (Jerome Valcke). We are trying to see if he can come,” he added.
Apart from the strategic plan, the AIFF is also working on an execution strategy keeping in mind the budgets they have been allotted.
“Strategic plan is the vision where each department will have the basic plan. A detailed operational plan is being prepared with budgets as we need the money to support the plan. We are ensuring that the budget based on our contract with IMG-Reliance is able to support it.
“The idea is that we don’t run into problems which we used to do quite often in terms of resources. The important aspect is to ensure that whatever we do is supported by the budget.”
